Our Story | How Harrelson Handcrafted Began
Our journey began with a simple passion for woodworking and a desire to create timeless pieces that blend artistry with functionality.
Meet Rick Harrelson
Rick Harrelson was raised in the suburbs of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rick began college as a trumpet player and soon moved to become a musical theatre major, his focus becoming theatre, singing, and performance.
After graduating from Oklahoma City University, Rick moved to New York City to work as an actor. After some time there, he transferred coasts and moved to Seattle where he worked in regional theatre productions. In 2014, Rick moved back to Oklahoma and began to shift from working on stage to working behind the scenes. He started directing shows. Soon after, he added lighting into his toolbox, then scenic design & construction. This move ultimately led him deep into the world of making things with his hands.
After the Pandemic hit and theatre was shut down everywhere, Rick decided to take on some DIY projects around his home: refinishing a table, building a modular outdoor seating area, making a custom paneling for the study. He started building more projects for friends and family, and that’s how Harrelson Handcrafted was born!
In late 2022, Rick moved with his partner Meghan to Bellingham, Washington. The two now call Maple Falls home where they reside with their dog, Morty— who, it must be said, is the cutest little troublemaker in the world.
Between projects, Rick and Meghan are building a sustainable off-grid cabin near the Grand Canyon in Northern Arizona.
